Temporary Local Rule

TEMPORARY LOCAL RULE - RELIEF CAN BE TAKEN FROM FUSARIUM IMPACTED AREAS ON GREENS UNDER GROUND UNDER REPAIR RULE.

As we've now entered the Main season and with the greens not quite clear of the after-effects of Fusarium, the Greens and Comps Chairs have agreed to implement a Local rule to allow very specific relief from balls which have stopped in an affected area.

Without this Temporary Local Rule, players must replace their ball on the green after marking on the exact spot it came to rest. under the Rules of Golf.

This Local Rule will apply to all play - ie includes non-competition rounds too, but allows players IF their ball is resting in a Fusarium affected area to take relief as Ground Under Repair on the Green.

The ball can be placed on the NEAREST point away from the Fusarium area it is resting in not nearer the hole.

It does NOT mean the 6 inch preferred lie rule or 1 club length rule that applies if you are not on the green. The nearest point is expected to only be a fraction of an inch - the minimum to allow players to strike the ball cleanly. It also does NOT include the rest of the line to the hole, only the immediate spot the ball is resting in. Members are being trusted to apply this in the spirit it's intended.

This rule will only be in place for a few weeks until the Fusarium has further improved, at which point the normal Rule of Golf will apply and any awkward lies will be considered Rub of the Green.
