News article for the Seniors Section

The Seniors earned a creditable away draw at Erewash Valley, where the home side fielded a familiar face in Ron Tinson, formerly of this Parish and still very much capable of mischief on a golf course.
Beeston’s wins came courtesy of three strong pairings:
Keki Ashburner & Phil Mawson, steady and assured for a 2&1 victory
Dave Bull & Drew Armstrong, who controlled their match for a 3&2 win
And the standout margin of the day from Rob McWilliam & Mike Gilbert, triumphant by 5&4—though Mike insists the credit belongs entirely to Rob’s excellent golf
Two valuable half‑points were secured by Matt Lavelle & Andy Lowe and Tim Hawkins & John Sallis, both pairs showing the resilience needed away from home. As for the remaining three pairings, they have opted to place the blame squarely on the slow greens, which is of course a time‑honoured golfing tradition.
In other news, no fewer than five Beeston Fields players managed to leave the premises without paying for their food. While this may resemble a coordinated dine‑and‑dash, the Captain wishes to clarify that this is not official BFGC Seniors policy.
With payment‑chasing now required at both home and away fixtures this season, he will be issuing firmer reminders in future—ideally before players reach the car park.
Thanks to all who played and contributed to an entertaining day, both on and off the course.
