Horsley Lodge AWAY MATCH RESULT Tuesday 9th June 2026

Horsley Lodge vs Beeston Fields (Away)

Tuesday 9th June 2026

The Seniors made the short trip to Horsley Lodge for what proved to be a lively, weather‑buffeted and thoroughly competitive encounter on a course that always demands accuracy, patience, and—on this occasion—a sense of humour.

Unfortunately, the day began with a result that will no doubt feature heavily in the Captain’s end‑of‑season review. Phil Harrison and Richard Bursztyn were on the receiving end of an emphatic 8&7 defeat in the opening match. No excuses offered, none required—just a brisk return to the practice ground and a determination to put things right next time.

To their immense credit, the rest of the Beeston Fields team refused to let this early setback define the day. What followed was a series of gritty, determined and at times excellent performances across the board.

Match Highlights

The standout win came in Match 3, where Lance Rosie and John Swan delivered a superb 6&4 victory, combining steady ball‑striking with smart matchplay to overwhelm their opponents.

In Match 6, Dave Bonser and Andy Lowe produced a composed and confident 4&2 win, managing the tricky Horsley greens with real assurance.

There was another strong performance in Match 2, where Tony Gilbert and Ade Firth secured a tidy 3&2 victory, using their shots wisely and keeping the pressure firmly on the home side.

The final Beeston point came in Match 8, where Tim Hawkins and Mike Gilbert combined brilliantly for a 3&2 win, rounding off the morning with a flourish.

Elsewhere, several matches were tight affairs that could have swung either way, with narrow defeats in Matches 4, 5 and 7 preventing Beeston from edging ahead overall.

Final Score

Horsley Lodge 4 – 4 Beeston Fields

A very creditable away draw on a challenging course in equally challenging weather conditions. The team showed resilience, spirit and no shortage of quality after a difficult start, and the shared points were well deserved.

Another enjoyable day out for the Seniors, and sincere thanks to all who represented Beeston Fields with commitment, humour and distinction.
