News article for the Seniors Section

The Seniors’ unbeaten run came to an end at Mickleover, where the home side proved just a little too strong, taking the match 5½–2½. Despite the result, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day: the course was in excellent condition, the welcome warm, and the weather kinder than expected — which is always a bonus when travelling across Derbyshire.
Like ourselves, Mickleover have now moved these fixtures from the white tees to the yellows, though judging by the collective muttering on the way round, this hasn’t made the course feel any shorter or any easier.
Beeston’s standout performance came in the final match, where Rich Gibney and Andy Lowe stormed to an impressive 5&3 victory — a proper statement win to round off the day. Julian Ennis and Graham Pretty also delivered a strong result with a 2&1 success.
The moment of the day, however, belonged to Keith Evans, who produced a shot worthy of any highlight reel: holing out from 138 yards on the 12th for a magnificent eagle. Keith and partner Martin Bottomley then fought back from 4 down to secure an excellent half — a comeback that showed real grit.
Naturally, we will now be expecting Keith to provide at least one eagle per match for the remainder of the season. No pressure at all.
Thank you to all who played.
