Ruddington Grange AWAY MATCH RESULT Friday 4th September 2026

Ruddington Grange vs Beeston Fields (Away)

Friday 4th September 2026

The Beeston Fields Seniors team travelled to Ruddington Grange, bravely overcoming the shock of seeing green grass on all the fairways—and even in the rough. Some players had to take a moment to steady themselves, having not witnessed such lush conditions since early spring. There was also actual water in the ditches, which for the 2026 season felt like a special effects upgrade.

Despite this horticultural drama, the team settled quickly and produced an excellent away victory by 6 points to 2. Some matches were tight—two halved, two won by just 1 up—and three were strong, convincing wins: Tim Hawkins & Eddie Easton (3&2), Lance Rosie & Ray Stevenson (3&2), and Tony Gilbert & Julian Ennis (4&3).

Many thanks to all who played, including the late subs, and a special mention for Pete Bowler and Steve Bryan, making their Seniors debuts this season. And finally, the Seniors Captain was delighted to spot a reserved parking space for the Ruddington “Seniors Captain”.

Match 1 – Phil Harrison & Rob McWilliam W 1 UP

A tight, gritty win from Captain Phil Harrison & Rob McWilliam, who held their nerve superbly on the closing holes. Phil’s steady tee shots and Rob’s calm short game proved just enough to edge out their opponents. A perfect away‑day start.

Match 2 – Matt Lavelle & Peter Bowler A/S

Vice‑Captain Matt Lavelle partnered Pete Bowler, (making his Seniors debut.) They produced a composed performance, finishing all square after a match that swung back and forth. A very useful half point.

Match 3 – Dave Andrews & Andy Lowe W 1 UP

A corrected pairing — and a corrected result. Dave Andrews and Andy Lowe battled brilliantly to win 1 UP. Dave’s reliable ball‑striking and Andy’s composed play on the final holes proved decisive. Another excellent point on the board.

Match 4 – Tony Gilbert & Julian Ennis W 4&3

The most convincing win of the day. Tony and Julian cruised to a 4&3 victory, combining crisp iron play with confident putting. They looked in control from the early holes and never let their opponents back into the match.

Match 5 – Graham Pretty & Bob Jones L 4&3

Graham and Bob fought hard but were beaten 4&3. Graham’s accuracy and Bob’s steady rhythm kept them competitive early on, but Ruddington’s pair found form on the back nine and pulled away.

Match 6 – Tim Hawkins & Eddie Easton W 3&2

One of the standout performances. Tim and Eddie combined beautifully for a 3&2 win, with Tim’s long game and Eddie’s short game dovetailing perfectly. They handled the lush fairways and quick greens with confidence.

Match 7 – Lance Rosie & Ray Stevenson W 3&2

Another strong win from Lance and Ray, who also triumphed 3&2. Lance’s trademark accuracy and Ray’s touch around the greens kept constant pressure on their opponents. A textbook away victory.

Match 8 – Steve Bryan & Malcolm Leivers A/S

Steve (on his Seniors debut) and Malcolm earned a battling half point. Steve showed great promise, and Malcolm used his shots wisely to keep the match tight throughout. A well‑earned half to finish the day.

Final Score: Ruddington Grange 2 – 6 Beeston Fields

A superb away performance: five wins, two halves, one loss, and a team that coped admirably with the shock of green fairways and real water hazards.

Thanks again to all who played — especially the late subs and our debutants Pete Bowler and Steve Bryan. And here’s hoping that “Seniors Captain” reserved parking appears at Beeston Fields before too long.
