News article for the Seniors Section

The Nottinghamshire (Away) – Wednesday 27th May 2026**
The BFGC Seniors were on their travels again, this time to The Nottinghamshire’s Signature Course, where the thermometer hovered around 25°C and a steady breeze kept things just the right side of tropical. Even so, water bottles and sun‑cream were very much part of the essential kit list.
The course looked superb, and the welcome was as friendly as ever, but the home side proved strong across the board. Still, there were bright moments and excellent individual performances from the Beeston lads.
Beeston got off to the perfect start in Match 1, where Captain Phil Harrison and the ever‑dependable Andy Lowe combined beautifully to secure a 2 UP victory. A composed, controlled performance that briefly had the travelling supporters dreaming of an away upset.
In Match 3, Ade Firth and Malcolm Leivers delivered a gritty and well‑earned half point, navigating both the course and the conditions with trademark calmness.
The highlight of the morning came in Match 7, where John Swan and Kev Murray produced a superb 3&1 win. Their opponents included none other than Les Hutchinson, recently transferred from Beeston Fields for an undisclosed (but rumoured to be enormous) fee. The Beeston pair handled the occasion with icy composure, securing our second full point of the day.
Elsewhere, despite determined efforts, the remaining matches tilted the way of the home side. The Nottinghamshire pairing in Match 4 found form at exactly the wrong moment for us, and Matches 5, 6 and 8 also slipped away despite some spirited golf from the Beeston teams.
When the final cards were signed, the overall result stood at:
A tough away fixture, but played in excellent spirit and with several standout performances to take forward into the next match. As always, sincere thanks to all who represented Beeston Fields with honour, good humour, and distinction.
