Event held at Beeston Fields Golf Club

The November Quiz Night once again proved to be one of the most popular social events on the calendar, with an impressive 18 teams and well over 100 enthusiastic quizzers packing into the clubhouse. (Photo 2) In fact, by the time the first question was asked there wasn’t a spare chair, stool or bar‑lean left. Several players were seen hovering like flamingos, balancing on one leg while scribbling answers — true dedication to the cause.
As usual, we welcomed a great mix of returning regulars and brave newcomers. Two teams even began the evening with a minus‑3 handicap after winning previous quizzes, proving that success does indeed come at a price. (A price paid in points, not cash — we’re not that kind of establishment.)
This month’s champions were Julian, Rob and Friends, who secured victory with a strong 60 points, narrowly edging out Below Par on 58 points. The battle for 3rd to 6th place was so tight it required a tie‑break, which produced the kind of tension normally reserved for penalty shootouts or trying to find your trolley token at Tesco.
The winning team can be seen in (Photo 1), proudly receiving their 1st prize from Lady Captain Linda Sheilds and Quizmaster John Simpson, who managed to keep the evening running smoothly despite the occasional outbreak of competitive muttering.
The prize winners are listed below:
1st - Julian, Rob & Friends 60 (Photo 1)
2nd - Below Par 58
3rd - The Trivial 60 - 3 57 (tie break)
4th - Bar 5 57 (tie break)
5th - Bay No 6 57 (tie break)
6th - West Hallam Wanderers 57 (tie break)
