Event held at Beeston Fields Golf Club

Numbers bounced back with a vengeance for the May Quiz Night, as 18 teams and 90‑odd eager quizzers packed into the clubhouse (photos 2&3) for an evening of competitive brilliance, questionable confidence, and the usual chorus of “I knew that!” heard only after the answers were read out.
After months of hovering near the summit like a drone with low battery, The Trivials finally swooped in to claim their first win of 2026, topping the table with a cracking 58 points and a tidy £40 win for their efforts. A popular victory — though not too popular, judging by the groans from the teams they leapfrogged.
Below them? Absolute chaos.
From 2nd to 10th place, the scoreboard resembled a motorway pile‑up of identical scores, with the tie‑break question doing more work than the quizmaster. Teams were separated by margins so fine they could have been measured with a micrometer.
And in true community spirit, every penny collected on the night was paid straight back out, resulting in eight prizes — which explains why the queue for the bar suddenly became very generous with rounds.

And finally…
For those who enjoy a good mental workout (or a mild headache), the trickiest picture puzzle of the entire night can be found in Photo 4 — a real brain‑twister that had teams squinting, rotating their phones, and questioning their life choices. If you’re still stuck, salvation awaits in Photo 5, where the answer is revealed in all its smug simplicity.
With that, we now slip gracefully into our Summer break, returning refreshed, recharged, and possibly sunburnt on September 17th.
Have a wonderful Summer — see you in the Autumn for more chaos, controversy, and quizzing glory.
