Seniors Medal No. 6 & Medal Final

(A day of birdies, tight finishes, and one very happy Medal Final champion.)

A committed field of 30 Seniors took to the course for Medal No. 6 — the final medal of the season and the decider for the Medal Final. Conditions were fair, the scoring lively, and both divisions produced clear winners with rounds full of quality.

🏆 Division 1 – Grewcock in Full Flight

Richard Grewcock produced a superb winning round, returning a nett 68 built on 4 birdies and 7 pars. Going out in 39 and coming back in 37, Grewcock’s card showed both control and confidence — the sort of medal golf that leaves playing partners quietly wondering how he made it look so easy.

He finished three shots clear of Dave Andrews, who posted a solid nett 71 to take second place. Andrews kept his round tidy throughout, but Grewcock’s birdie count proved decisive.

Third place went to John Abbiss with a nett 73, completing the Division 1 prize list.

🏆 Division 2 – Beer Edges a Tight Finish

Division 2 produced a close contest, with the top three separated by just a single shot.

Andy Beer claimed victory with a nett 75, going out in 45 and returning in 51, supported by 4 pars. A steady round that kept him just ahead of the chasing pack.

Second place went to Adrian Firth, who returned a nett 76, and edged it on the back‑3 countback (13) ahead of  Mark Robinson, who also scored 76 but lost out on the countback with 14.

• 2nd Firth – 76 (b3 13) - £16

• 3rd Robinson – 76 (b3 14) - £14

🏆 Medal Final – Hopwood Takes the Title

The Medal Final — contested across the season’s medal rounds — produced a deserving champion:

Hopwood’s consistency across the medal season earned him the overall title, rounding off the competition with a composed final round.
